The Qiaozhen Site is situated on a plateau about 10 meters northeast of Qiaozhen Village, Chencang District, Baoji City, and covers an area of about 150,000 square meters. Artifacts unearthed here include pottery fragments, stone tools, and broken white lime living surfaces from the Longshan period. Among the discoveries were tubular tiles from the Longshan Culture, which pushed back the history of tile usage in China by one thousand years, earning it the title “the First Tile of China.”
The site has been severely disturbed by tomb raiders, leaving relatively few surface remains. However, several identifiable artifacts, mostly restorable items, fully restorable pieces, and two intact objects, as well as three stone tools, have been excavated.
In May 2013, it was designated and announced by the State Council as part of the seventh batch of Major Historical and Cultural Sites Protected at the National Level.
