Qingding Pavilion is located in Shuitouzhai, a small Buyi ethnic village in the "Ten-Mile Gallery" of Hefeng Township, Kaiyang County, Guiyang City. In Kaiyang County’s "Ten-Mile Gallery" rural tourism area, there are more than 300 rural guesthouses. However, regardless of their age, size, or condition, tranquility, coolness, and beautiful scenery are common features among them.

In the morning, as the mist clears, listening to unfamiliar music, water birds skim the surface and rest near the rice fields by the river… The starry sky forms a Milky Way painting, with fireflies occasionally flying up into the night sky, leaving trails of light… Under the bright moon and sparse stars, the river sparkles, and I lean on the railing, letting time flow by… These are all ordinary scenes at Qingding Pavilion. In fact, butterflies fluttering, cicadas chirping, and frogs and crabs running all over the place are also common occurrences.

With its blue tiles and white walls, wooden tables and chairs, and French-style bar… these are all unique to Qingding Pavilion. In front of the building, a large balcony with wooden railings, wooden tables and chairs, and red umbrellas is particularly eye-catching. Under the bamboo grove to the right, a swing exudes a lazy, laid-back vibe. Following the cobblestone path down, you’ll find the French-style bar beneath the balcony, with lanterns, long tables, and high-backed chairs, all radiating a strong rural French charm. The cobblestone path leads all the way to the river, with flowers and greenery on both sides that are a feast for the eyes.

The guesthouse has 10 rooms, each uniquely structured and decorated. From the materials and colors of the walls and ceilings to the patterns of the pillowcases and bath towels, it’s clear that great care has been put into every detail. The largest room in the guesthouse is the second-floor scenic room, and there is only one. Qingding Pavilion has many regular guests, including many foreigners, and the owner, Zhou Jianbin, reserves this one and only scenic room for VIPs.

Qingding Pavilion doesn’t offer many forms of entertainment but encourages self-entertainment and discovering the beauty of life. Yet, it embodies an attitude—a way of life we’ve long missed and dreamed of. Here, we can temporarily leave behind the hustle and bustle of the city to enjoy tranquility, pick up a pen we haven’t used in years to doodle on fabric... Even if you can’t do any of these, you can at least enjoy the clean air, bright sunshine, and cool river breeze here.
