Bright Summit

Bright Summit is one of the main peaks of Huangshan Mountain. Located in the central part of Huangshan, it has an elevation of 1,860 meters and is the second highest peak of the mountain. It is known as one of the three major main peaks of Huangshan, along with Tiandu Peak and Lotus Peak. The summit is flat and expansive, offering spectacular views of the Eastern Sea scenic area, the Western Sea cluster of peaks, as well as a panoramic sight of peaks such as Refining Dan Peak, Tiandu Peak, Lotus Peak, Yuping Peak, and Aoyu Peak. In the Ming Dynasty, Monk Pumen built the Dabeiyuan Temple on the summit, and today the site is home to the Huangshan Meteorological Station. The name “Bright Summit” comes from the area’s high elevation, open terrain, and long exposure to sunlight. Due to its flat landscape, it is also one of the best spots on Huangshan to watch the sunrise and view the sea of clouds.
If you plan to watch the sunrise at Bright Summit, it is recommended to stay in the area around Beihai Hotel. Check the sunrise time for the next day in advance, book a wake-up call service at the hotel, and be prepared for a roughly one-hour hike from Beihai Hotel to Bright Summit.
