Deqing Panlong Gorge

　　The Panlong Gorge Primitive Ecotourism Area boasts an extensive canyon and an unusually large cluster of over 100 waterfalls. It is the first tourism area in Guangdong Province recognized by the Guangdong Provincial Tourism Bureau for having a waterfall cluster of more than 10 levels, and is hailed as the "rarest in Asia and foremost in Guangdong" waterfall group.

　　In 2005, it was rated by China's most authoritative travel magazine, *Chinese National Geography*, as "the most beautiful place in Guangdong." The Panlong Gorge Scenic Area is a primitive natural ecotourism destination and a sacred site of Chinese dragon culture and legends. The area is covered with lush ancient trees, including the nationally protected plant "living fossil" — the black Alsophila spinulosa. It serves as a photography base for the Guangdong Photographers Association. The canyon has an air negative ion concentration of up to 1.25 billion per cubic meter, making it the largest natural oxygen bar in southern China. Known as "China's No. 1 Drift for Adventurers," the Panlong Gorge Drift pioneered winter drifting in China in 2002, becoming the only scenic area in the country capable of offering four-season drifting activities. It stands out among the many drifting spots in Guangdong Province and enjoys high popularity. The Panlong Gorge gathers nearly 100 large and small waterfalls divided into eastern and western sections. The eastern waterfall cluster is dense, with the most spectacular section featuring four or five waterfalls each dropping over 60 meters within a distance of less than 200 meters. The Panlong Gorge Tenglong Waterfall, located in the western waterfall cluster, has a drop of over 90 meters, showcasing its majestic presence.

　　The entire waterfall cluster has a total drop of nearly 300 meters, with water flowing along a 5.3-kilometer stretch, forming a waterfall group covering an area of over 100 hectares. The Panlong Gorge waterfalls are not only densely packed and abundant in water volume but also offer a cohesive visual experience with strong three-dimensional effects. At Panlong Gorge, you can explore a fairyland of peculiar peaks and rocks, hear the roar like a lion’s growl, and watch the flying waterfalls stir up waves of white foam. There are three major natural waterfall sights that you must experience. As you descend the Panlong Gorge waterfall cluster, wait with anticipation for the appearance of that purple ocean around the corner, and finally discover the deep purple fields at the foot of the mountain. This "perfume plant" originally from the Mediterranean region boasts richly colored small purple flowers, which can grow up to 1 meter tall when mature. The star-shaped fine-haired blossoms resemble wheat spikes. When a gentle breeze blows, the entire lavender field undulates like deep purple waves, layer upon layer, creating a breathtakingly beautiful scene.

　　Panlong Gorge ↔ Deqing Transportation: The Panlong Gorge Ecotourism Area and Deqing Bus Terminal operate four daily shuttle bus services in both directions, departing at 8:30, 10:30, 13:30, and 15:30.

　　Deqing ↔ Zhaoqing Transportation: Buses run between Deqing Bus Station and Zhaoqing Duanzhou Road Regional Terminal, as well as between Deqing Bus Terminal and Zhaoqing Duanzhou Road Regional Terminal, daily from 6:50 to 18:00, with departures every 20 or 30 minutes.

　　Deqing → Guangzhou Transportation: Buses from Deqing Bus Station to Guangzhou Jiaokou Coach Terminal depart at 7:10, 8:00, 9:30, 10:55, 12:10, 13:10, 14:30, and 15:30.

　　Guangzhou ↔ Deqing Self-Drive Tour Route: Exit Guangzhou to the west, get on the Guangzhou–Sanshui Expressway, then transfer to National Highway 321 in Sanshui. Head west toward Wuzhou via Zhaoqing to reach Deqing, taking approximately 2 hours. Travel 18 kilometers north from Deqing to reach Jinlin Water Town and Panlong Gorge, with very convenient transportation.
