Jinlin Water Village is an ancient village in the Lingnan region with over 1,700 years of history, boasting a classic charm and profound cultural heritage. The village of Jinlin is uniquely characterized as a water town, historically crisscrossed by two canals, two ditches, five major wells, and numerous ponds, with the two ditches flowing right past villagers' homes. The geographical layout of Jinlin Village is quite distinctive, surrounded by five mountains known as the “Longevity Star,” “Golden Turtle,” “Bat,” “Deer,” and “Crane,” forming what is called a “Five Mountains Convergence” formation. It is acclaimed as a “water village nestled in the highlands.”

Strolling through the ancient village, stone bridges blend harmoniously with the river, green trees, ancient lanes, and old houses. The crisscrossing waterways resemble those of a classic Jiangnan water town, creating a poetic and picturesque scene of “water flowing around every household.” The leisurely and serene ancient charm offers absolute relaxation, making one feel as though they’ve entered a tranquil, conflict-free paradise.

With its sweet mountain spring water, fresh air, and simple, honest village culture, Jinlin Water Village has naturally become a land of longevity. The villagers here enjoy long lives, and elderly residents abound. According to incomplete statistics, since the Qing Dynasty, there have been as many as eight villagers who lived past the age of 100, and currently, there are still over 20 villagers aged 90 or above.

The villagers of Jinlin Water Village are known for their simplicity and honesty, and the area boasts a deep cultural heritage. Based on this, the scenic area has developed many interactive experiences for visitors, such as the village’s unmanned sales stalls, water town song and dance performances, tea tasting at lakeside pavilions, sampling local farm cuisine at large restaurants, experiencing traditional lifestyles such as brewing and oil pressing in the ancient architecture exhibition area, and taking part in countryside fun activities like pig racing, duck herding competitions, and cockfighting. Visitors can deeply immerse themselves in the traditional cultural essence of the water town.
