The former site of General Zhang Xueliang's Place of Confinement is located in Shuangliu Town, 8 kilometers west of Kaiyang County. To fully leverage the patriotic education value of the former site for young people, the People's Government of Kaiyang County decided to convert the "Yingyuan" (official residence) and the Liu Family Ancestral Hall into an exhibition room dedicated to General Zhang Xueliang’s life achievements. Over 250 photos of General Zhang Xueliang’s life have been collected, and items used by him during his confinement are displayed in the "Yingyuan." This was the place where General Zhang Xueliang was confined for the longest period on the Chinese mainland after the Xi'an Incident (from 1942 to 1944). The main building covers an area of about 250 square meters and includes the confinement site Yingyuan, barracks for the military police, a kitchen, and other sections.
