Upon entering Wangche Village, you’ll find that every household’s main hall and front door is adorned with couplets in a variety of styles. A strong scholarly atmosphere greets you right away. As early as the Qing Dynasty, the villagers placed great importance on education and had a passion for calligraphy, a tradition that has continued to this day. From elderly men in their seventies to young children, everyone here can write beautiful calligraphy, earning the village the reputation of being a “Calligraphy Village.”
