The entire sculpture consists of two parts: the foundation and the main body. The foundation is a two-tier cylindrical plain concrete cast-in-place circular platform. The first tier has a radius of 19.5 meters, and the second tier has a radius of 13 meters. The combined height of both tiers is 3.5 meters, and all surfaces of the tiers are paved with twisted-pattern granite. The main body features three giant stainless steel dragons supporting a massive stainless steel dragon ball. The three dragons are 31.8 meters, 28 meters, and 26 meters tall respectively, while the dragon ball has a diameter of 2.28 meters and a height of 20.8 meters.
Deqing is home to the renowned Dragon Mother Ancestral Temple, known far and wide, and is steeped in ancient and magical legends about the Dragon Mother—earning it the title of the homeland of the dragon. The sculpture depicts three soaring dragons protecting a luminous pearl as they pierce the blue sky. Its abstract form resembles the Chinese characters for “crowd” (众) and “person” (人), delivering strong visual impact and a sense of awe. It symbolizes the people of Deqing advancing and developing like mighty dragons—pioneering, striving upward, and ceaselessly pursuing excellence as they create new glories on the ancient land of Kangzhou. The dragons stand firmly with their feet on the ground, their pointed tips reaching the sky, united in purpose as they guard the immense pearl. This represents the Deqing spirit of “unity, civility, progress, and innovation,” embodying the people of Deqing’s determination to strive for excellence in the new century.
