Obelisk
The Obelisk (Obelisco de Buenos Aires) was constructed in 1936 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the founding of Buenos Aires. It was designed by architect Alberto Prebisch. Initially opposed by the public, it was almost entirely demolished in 1939. Today, it has become an irreplaceable iconic landmark of the city. The obelisk stands 67.5 meters tall.
