Lake Kariba
Lake Kariba is situated on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. It is an artificial lake created by damming the Middle Zambezi River at the Kariba Gorge. The reservoir has a capacity of 160 billion cubic meters. Two hydroelectric power stations have been built nearby. It also serves as a major tourist destination, featuring stunning landscapes and numerous tourism facilities on the small islands within the lake. Visitors can enjoy fishing, boating, and relaxation here.
Highlights: Lake Kariba is one of the largest artificial lakes in the world. It stretches 282 kilometers in length, reaches a maximum width of 32 kilometers, and covers a total area of 2,000 square miles. Several recreational resorts have been established along the lakeshore, and visitors can rent boats for cruises and fishing excursions on the lake.
