Furong Valley

-rated attraction
Introduction       Situated at the foot of Furong Peak on the northern slope of Huangshan Mountain, also known as the north gate of Huangshan, it is 10 kilometers from the urban area. Spanning 10 kilometers from the North Sea and West Sea of Huangshan above to Huangbitan below, the valley features towering peaks and grotesque rocks. There are over 100 large and small emerald-green pools in the valley, 24 of which have a major axis of more than 15 meters. Their shimmering waters and vibrant colors resemble blooming hibiscus flowers. The area is filled with youthful charm, hence it is also called the “Valley of Spring.” Furong Ridge lies above Furong Valley and below Furong Peak, which has an elevation of 1,365 meters and resembles a newly bloomed hibiscus, hence its name. Furong Ridge is a necessary path for mountain climbing, and there is a cave on the ridge called Furong Cave. From the cave entrance, one can admire the winding stream that looks like a silk ribbon. Below the ridge is a valley plain where the former site of Furong Nunnery is located; it was later rebuilt and renamed “Furong Residence.” Transportation     The main gate of Furong Valley is located beside the Ganfu Highway, which connects the urban area to the north gate of Huangshan. Walking 5 kilometers up the scenic stone path in the valley leads to the Songgu Mountain Cable Car Station.
