The sides of the monument feature inscriptions by Dong Biwu, Ye Jianying, Xu Xiangqian, and Li Xiannian. The front base is engraved with an epitaph jointly composed by the Hubei Provincial Committee of the CPC and the provincial government. The sides of the base display large bas-reliefs depicting the heroic struggles and successive sacrifices of the people in the Soviet area.
