Legend has it that the Eight Immortals, while crossing the sea, were captivated by the lush valleys, crystal-clear streams, and the majestic waves of this place. They stopped to drink and rest on a huge rock on the mountainside. This square-shaped rock is called the “Eight Immortals’ Table,” and the mountain was thus named; it was later changed to Bashan (Eight Immortals Mountain).
The reserve is home to over 362 species of plants, many of which are under national key protection, as well as various rare birds. It also serves as a natural treasure trove of traditional Chinese medicinal herbs, with more than 200 types growing here.
The ecological environment of the Bashan area is truly unique and is often referred to as a “forest wildlife park.” For experts and researchers, it is a natural museum and an open-air laboratory. For city dwellers, it offers an ideal destination to reconnect with nature, escape the summer heat, enjoy convalescence and vacation, and explore scenic beauty.
