Yanghou Bridge
Yanghou Bridge, a provincial-level key cultural relic protection unit, is situated in Yanghou Natural Village, Waizhuan Village, Waizhuan Township. It is a wooden arched covered bridge. Although the original construction date is uncertain, the existing structure was built in October 1850 during the 30th year of the Daoguang reign in the Qing Dynasty. The bridge has an arch span of 33 meters, a width of 4.86 meters, and the roof of the bridge house stands 25.6 meters above the river surface. There are four rows of columns on the bridge deck, totaling 48 pillars, and the bridge house consists of 11 bays. Located at a strategic point along the ancient post road, the bridge underwent multiple repairs throughout history. However, over time, it suffered frequent damage from wind, rain, and floods, leading to foundation subsidence and tilting of the structure. In May 2007, led by Wu Shoumu, a local resident, the bridge underwent a comprehensive lifting and realignment project—the largest repair effort in its history—which took nine months to complete, thereby ensuring its preservation in good condition.
