Known as the “Crossroads of the South Pacific Cultures,” Suva is an important cultural center and the most cosmopolitan city in the South Pacific. Its architecture is quaint and charming, full of local character. Some streets are lined with traditional markets selling antique wooden items and handicrafts that are hard to resist. Among Suva’s most iconic landmarks are the Suva City Library and the Carnegie Library, built in 1909, which, together with other colonial-era buildings, form some of the city’s most beautiful scenery. The Fiji Museum is the most significant and spectacular historical museum in the South Pacific, making it the ideal place to explore Fiji’s mysterious past.
Suva is home to 78 parks, the most famous of which is Albert Park. Colorful and lively, this park hosts the annual traditional cultural festival, the Hibiscus Festival, which fills the area with joy and celebration.
