Rainbow Slope (Pure Land Mountain · Nüwa Relics) is located on the shoreline slope of the Sancha River area. It is a karst river valley terrace, covering approximately 10,000 acres. Legend has it that in ancient times, Rainbow Slope was called Pure Land Mountain, the place where earthly rainbows first rose. It is also said to be where Pan Gu’s daughter, the Flower Goddess, traveled westward for 22,222 li to gather pure soil, then used the colors of the seven-hued rainbow to tint the seeds of all flowers. She then traveled eastward for 44,444 li to fetch true water, southward for 66,666 li to collect virtuous water, and northward for 88,888 li to obtain beautiful water. With these, she built a flower garden, spreading the beauty and fragrance of flowers across the human world. Nüwa had seventy incarnations; she mended the heavens and created humanity, laboring throughout her life. Upon her death, her largest true form transformed into the reclining dragon mountain behind Rainbow Slope. In the past, the scholar Wang Yangming once visited Rainbow Slope and exclaimed, “There is no greater beauty under heaven, no finer scenery in the world, than this.” After seeing the vivid image of Nüwa resembling a reclining figure on the slope, he named it the rare and remarkable “Nüwa Relics.” The four characters “Nüwa Relics” can still be found carved into the cliff at Yangming Cave.
