Ciping Scenic Area

Ciping Scenic Area
-- Ciping is situated at the center of the Jinggangshan Scenic Area. It functions as the main base for tourism services such as food, lodging, and transport, and is the first destination for visitors to Jinggangshan.

-- Though the town is not large, it is densely packed with buildings. There are many revolutionary sites and relics from the Red history period that visitors can explore. The area can get quite crowded, so for a quieter, more solitary experience, it’s best to visit early in the morning, late in the evening, or during the off-season.

-- Yicui Lake Park is an elegant green space in the town, featuring a small artificial lake surrounded by lush trees. It’s a pleasant spot for a stroll in the morning or evening.

-- Private cars are not allowed to enter the main scenic spots. The town has public buses that shuttle visitors to the major attractions, though the frequency is relatively low.

-- There are plenty of accommodation options in town, including the long-established Jingtai Hotel and the Jinggangshan Hotel, where Chairman Mao once stayed.

  Tour Guide:

-- Ciping is the seat of the Jinggangshan Municipal Government, situated at an altitude of 826 meters. It is a beautiful mountain city. At its center lies Yicui Lake Park, shaded by green foliage, with a calm, mirror-like lake surface and pavilions that create a delightful scene. The Torch Platform in Nanshan Park to the south is majestic, while the Sculpture Garden to the north features bronze, white marble, and granite statues of revolutionary figures such as Mao Zedong, - , Peng Dehuai, and Chen Yi, all crafted by renowned national sculptors. The statues are strikingly lifelike and vivid.

  Points of Interest:

-- The Jinggangshan Revolutionary Museum stands against the mountain and by the water, overlooking Yicui Lake and facing the cluster of Jinggangshan Revolutionary Sites across the lake. Established in 1959, the museum’s name was inscribed personally by Marshal - . The architecture is simple and dignified, with a distinct ethnic style. The building covers a construction area of 3,065 square meters, with over 2,000 square meters of exhibition space, including more than 860 original artifacts. These cultural relics and images recreate the glorious history of the Jinggangshan struggle and serve as an excellent venue for revolutionary tradition education.

  Introduction:

-- Ciping is the most concentrated area of Jinggangshan’s revolutionary sites. In late October 1927, Comrade Mao Zedong led the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Revolutionary Army to Ciping, establishing the first rural revolutionary base. Ciping became the center for the Party, government, and military leadership as well as the rear base area. It was here that Mao Zedong wrote his famous work “The Struggle in Jinggangshan.” Currently, these revolutionary sites have all been listed as National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units and are open to the public.
