Xiao Huangshan
Situated 2 kilometers west of Huangshan District’s urban area, Xiao Huangshan is celebrated for its profound history, picturesque landscapes, and scenery that closely resembles that of Huangshan. The Xiao Huangshan scenic area spans approximately 500 acres, with an elevation of 220 meters. Its terrain slopes from north to south, resembling a tiger’s back. Like Huangshan, it features a collection of natural and cultural landscapes, including uniquely shaped pines, peculiar rocks, and jade-like springs. According to the Taiping County Annals: “Its roots are hollow and exquisitely serene, reminiscent of the peculiar pines, strange rocks, Jade Spouting Spring, and Dragon Herding Pool found within Mount Yi (an ancient name for Huangshan).” The scenic area includes over ten attractions such as Graceful Water Pavilion, Dragon Herding Pool, Golden Toad Gazing at the Moon, Immortal’s Leaning Board, Immortal’s Abode, Side Drum Rock, Peculiar (Precarious) Rock, Flying Crossing Pass, Inkstone Rock, and Bell-Drum Tower. At the mountainside of the scenic area, the spring water is clear and sweet, and it has been assessed by the Ministry of Land and Resources, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Light Industry as being rich in various mineral elements (a Xiao Huangshan Mineral Water Factory has already been built at this site). The surrounding Zhuangli Village of Gantang Town, under the project's jurisdiction, boasts well-preserved vegetation and an outstanding ecological environment. In 2002, the village was listed among the top ten environmentally friendly villages, making it a prime destination for sightseeing, leisure, tourism, and vacation.
