The area along the Lidong Main Irrigation River in Liyue features dense forests and a beautiful environment, showcasing a pastoral landscape characterized by “square fields, networked woods, interconnected roads, and linked canals.” The 8-kilometer-long main irrigation river divides Lidong into eastern and western sections, giving the area a new look with straight rivers, roads, foundations, and forest belts. The ecological forest belt along the main irrigation river consists of over 30,000 bald cypress trees, averaging over 10 meters in height, forming a natural green barrier. In 1995, the Lidong Main Irrigation River forest belt was praised by UNESCO as “the best example of harmony between humans and nature.” The banks of the main irrigation river are adorned with exotic flowers and plants, fragrant fruits and vegetables, and abundant produce, earning it the title of “Guangdong Provincial Agricultural Ecology Demonstration Zone.” Coupled with numerous pastoral dining spots such as Fengzeyuan, Yangtaoyuan, Lotus World, Jitian Cuisine, Heyuan, and Waijia, which form a bustling market, the area attracts a continuous stream of tourists and diners.
