Murr's Volcano
Murr's Volcano was originally named Trou aux Cerfs but is commonly referred to as Murr's Volcano by locals. It is a dormant volcano located in the town of Curepipe in the Plaines Wilhems district of Mauritius, standing at an elevation of 605 meters. Its prominent silhouette can be seen from afar across the town. The crater has a diameter of 300 to 350 meters and a depth of 80 meters. Experts predict that although the volcano is currently dormant, it could potentially erupt again within the next few thousand years. A steep path leads to the crater, though it is not particularly safe. The crater is blocked by water and debris, making it difficult to see clearly, and the surrounding area is covered with a rich variety of tropical plants.
