Fiordland National Park
Fiordland National Park, also translated as Fjordland National Park, is located in the southwestern part of New Zealand’s South Island, covering an area of 12,500 square kilometers. It is the largest of New Zealand’s 14 national parks. The park is an important part of the Te Wahipounamu World Heritage site.

Fiordland National Park lies on a high mountain fault line at the junction of the Pacific Plate, the Australian Plate, and the Indian Ocean Plate, making it a seismically active area. The park boasts a wide variety of unique landscapes, including fiords, rocky coasts, cliffs, alpine lakes, and numerous waterfalls. Moreover, the park has a moist climate, with about two-thirds of its area covered by pristine beech and podocarp forests. The forests are also home to the world’s only flightless parrot—the kakapo—as well as other rare birds such as the kiwi.

Fiordland National Park is surrounded by towering mountains, sheer cliffs, cascading waterfalls, glistening glaciers, and crystal-clear waters, resembling a paradise on earth. Famous attractions such as Milford Sound, Doubtful Sound, and Lake Te Anau attract millions of visitors each year to witness the breathtaking wonders crafted by nature.
