  Previous Stop: Immortal Palm Peak

The Twin Lotus Peaks, situated north of Seven-Bend Stream, stand facing each other like twin lotuses blooming brilliantly in the sky. They are also called Drum Rock Peak or Double Breast Peak. On the peaks are the remains of boat coffins, as well as the sites of Stone Drums and the Stone Drums Taoist Monastery. To the right of the peaks, jutting sharply into the clouds, is the highest peak in the scenic area—Three Victories Peak, which stands 717.7 meters above sea level.

Legend: Halfway up Langwang Rock there is a cave called “Golden Rooster Cave.” Legend has it that in ancient times a golden rooster lived inside—a divine bird. Every dawn, it would fly to the highest point in the Wuyi Mountains Scenic Area—the summit of Three Victories Peak—and sing loudly. Its melodious and vigorous morning song echoed endlessly through the clear streams and red cliffs of the landscape, so powerful that even the larks had to fall silent.

Wherever the golden rooster flew, joy and happiness followed; wherever it sang, the land yielded abundant harvests, and people and livestock thrived. But a greedy landlord named Zhang Fuliang hatched an evil scheme, hoping to capture the bird and present it to the authorities in exchange for a hefty reward.

After careful planning, he hired stonemasons from elsewhere to carve steps along the cliff face. The clever golden rooster had long seen through the landlord’s scheme. Just as the steps were about to reach the cave entrance, it flew away to the Great Treasury Peak in Four-Bend Stream. Zhang Fuliang toiled in vain, not even getting a single feather, leaving behind only a laughingstock for future generations.
