Lübeck Cathedral
Lübeck Cathedral is located in Lübeck, in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. It was originally built as the cathedral of the Diocese of Lübeck in 1173 under the initiative of Henry the Lion. Unfortunately, parts of the church were destroyed during World War II, including the organ, which was lost in a fire. The structure was later rebuilt.

The current Lübeck Cathedral was completed in 1982 and is renowned for housing works by Bernt Notke and Thomas Quellinus that survived the bombing in 1942. The church stands at a total height of 105 meters, with its tall spire being particularly striking, making it the second tallest church in Lübeck. The 17-meter-high crucifix inside the church is the work of the famous Lübeck artist Bernt Notke and is highly impressive. In addition to the much-admired crucifix, the cathedral is also known for a poem that every visitor takes time to contemplate.
