Address: Zhejiang Province, Jinhua City, Lanxi City
Located in Sanquan Village, Huangdian Town. Also known as “Generals’ Hall.” Initially built in the eighth year of the Chunxi era of the Southern Song Dynasty (1181). It currently consists of three courtyards, all three bays in width, facing south with a slight eastern orientation, topped with flush-gable roofs, and covering an area of 710 square meters. The first courtyard was built during the Ming Dynasty’s Jiajing era, featuring a memorial archway-style brick-carved gate, with the secondary bay beams incorporated into the walls.
The main hall is 14.8 meters wide and 12.83 meters deep. The middle bay features a seven-rafter beam structure with front and rear corridors. The front corridor is 4.2 meters deep and uses a five-rafter beam. The rear corridor is single-step, with the roof using overhanging rafters. The secondary bays combine raised-beam and through-tenon styles, with bracket sets on the eaves that include “dou” elements. The building underwent renovation in the ninth year of the Shunzhi era of the Qing Dynasty.
Shide Hall is the wooden structure in the Lanxi area with the most distinctive Song and Yuan architectural style. Features such as the single-purlin double-curved-bracket six-purlin set under the eaves of the main hall and the triple-layered interior beams are rare and unique examples in local ancient architecture. In 1997, the building was designated as a Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit.
