Enshrinement Cave Stone Carvings
The Enshrinement Cave Stone Carvings are located on the rocky surface at the top of the cave entrance, measuring about 3 meters in height and 15 meters in width. Most of the inscriptions were created by famous individuals from the Republican era and previous dynasties. The carvings vary in style—some are simple and dignified, while others are dynamic and flowing, demonstrating profound calligraphic skill. Most are in regular script, but running, cursive, and seal scripts are also present. The overall layout is quite layered. There are a total of nine groups of inscriptions, all carved in intaglio, with varying sizes. From left to right: on the right, a horizontal inscription reads “Mystical Cave Entrance Amid Clouds” (4 characters), and on the left, a vertical inscription reads “Inscribed by Chen Zhensheng, engraved by Zhang Weiyuan of Ancient Bo,” in regular script; on the right, a horizontal inscription reads “Steep Cliff in Seclusion” (4 characters), and on the left, a vertical inscription reads “Inscribed by Wang Zuo of the locality,” in regular script; on the right, a horizontal inscription reads “Exploring Mysteries” (4 characters), and on the left, a vertical inscription reads “Inscribed by Xu Ducguang of Daping,” in regular script; on the right, a horizontal inscription reads “Fairyland” (2 characters), and on the left, a vertical inscription reads “Inscribed by Xu Yinghui,” in regular script; on the right, a horizontal inscription shows “口口口口” (4 characters), and on the left, an inscription reads “Inscribed by 口口口,” in cursive script, though the characters have become unclear; in the middle, a horizontal inscription reads “Gateway to the Mystical Cave” (4 characters), and on the left, a vertical inscription reads “Inscribed by 口口 Pinhou Ren,” while on the right, a vertical inscription reads “May, 21st Year of the Republic of China,” in running script; a horizontal inscription reads “Sages of Fanzhong” (4 characters), in seal script; in the middle, a horizontal inscription reads “Wooden Bark Hermitage” (3 characters), with a vertical inscription on the left reading “Inscribed by 古口口” and on the right “Inscribed by Tongren Wan口 Qin,” in regular script; a horizontal inscription reads “Mystical Mechanism” (2 characters), in running script. The carvings are largely well-preserved.
