Hwange National Park

Hwange National Park is Zimbabwe’s largest national park, stretching across 14,000 square kilometers—an area about the size of Wales. Established as a game reserve in 1928, this once modest wildlife sanctuary has, through years of careful management, evolved into the vast protected area teeming with large herds that it is today.

It is estimated that Hwange is home to around 40,000 elephants, and most visitors never tire of seeing them. Majestic sable antelope, zebras, roan and waterbuck, bad-tempered African buffalo, and tall, gentle giraffes are just a few of the animals commonly spotted during game drives. At dawn and dusk, both on open safaris and from viewing platforms near watering holes, visitors can witness unforgettable scenes of wildlife in this untamed expanse.

Hwange National Park can be visited at any time of year, but the early post-rainy season brings lush green vegetation and a carpet of colorful wildflowers. It’s also a great time to see newborn animals playing alongside their parents. In Zimbabwe, visitors can always expect high standards of comfort and warm hospitality from the local people.
