The vegetation in Chizarira National Park transitions from low-lying plants in the north to taller woodlands in the south. Waterfalls cascade down the steep cliffs, dropping about 600 meters into the Zambezi River valley, creating a spectacular landscape. The Mcheni and Lwizikululu rivers flow through the gorges of the escarpment. In the northeastern part of the park, the most prominent landmark is Tundazi Mountain, which according to local legend, is home to a giant serpent. The southern boundary of the park is marked by the Busi River, lined with pale-barked Acacia trees. Established as a game reserve in 1938, Chizarira was designated a wildlife sanctuary in 1963 and officially became a national park in 1975, with its headquarters located in Manzituba.
