The Former Site of the Founding Ceremony Square of the 4th Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army

　　The Former Site of the Founding Ceremony Square of the 4th Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army is situated on the east bank of the Longjiang River in the Longshi Scenic Area of Jinggangshan. On May 4, 1928, more than 20,000 people gathered here for a grand military-civilian assembly to celebrate the convergence of the two armies and the establishment of the 4th Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army (later renamed the 4th Army of the Chinese Red Army). At that time, the site was a sandbar, and the stage for the gathering was built from grain barrels, wood, and door panels, covered with sun mats. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the original appearance was restored, and a bronze statue of Mao Zedong and Zhu De shaking hands was erected in front of the stage to commemorate the meeting of Zhu and Mao and the birth of the 4th Red Army.
