Introduction West Point, widely known as the synonym for the United States Military Academy, is located 80 kilometers north of New York City. It was once the earliest military fort in the northeastern United States and served as an anti-British stronghold during the American Revolutionary War. The U.S. military academy, situated at West Point, is thus called the United States Military Academy at West Point. Established in 1802, it is a world-renowned military institution. Its cadets are primarily nominated by the President, Vice President, members of Congress, as well as recommended by active-duty and reserve forces. Alumni of West Point, both past and present, are spread throughout all branches of the U.S. military and have demonstrated outstanding performance on the battlefield. Graduates such as Eisenhower, MacArthur, Bradley, Arnold, Clark, Patton, Ridgway, and Stilwell have become household-name heroes in the United States.
