About 5 kilometers into the Wulie Forest Farm of the Bawangling Forestry Bureau grows a tree that can exude oil directly from its trunk—the Dipterocarpus confertus, a species in the Caesalpiniaceae family. Within the park, below an altitude of 700 meters, Dipterocarpus confertus stands grow naturally, covering an area of 220 hectares. These trees are 120 years old on average, with an average height of 22 meters and an average breast-height diameter of 30 centimeters. Some trees have a trunk diameter of over 1 meter.
