Ouargla

　　Ouargla is situated in central Algeria and is the capital of Ouargla Province. It is well-known for its booming oil industry and is also the location of the University of Ouargla Kasdi Merbah. Legend has it that Ouargla was built by the Banu Wargla tribe and has developed into an important tourist destination in recent years.

　　Located in a desert region, the area is rich in desert roses, and many visitors come to the market to purchase this rare stone. In the large market, aside from desert roses, you can also find antiques, traditional handicrafts, lizard specimens, and more. Not far from the main market is what locals commonly call the weekend market, which mainly trades daily necessities, with fruits and vegetables being the primary items. The city has two ancient mosques, known as the Old Mosque and the Old Shiite Mosque. The former was once the spiritual retreat of the city’s most renowned Muslim scholar.
