Longtan Forest Park

Longtan Forest Park is situated 8 kilometers south of Tianmu Lake and spans an area of approximately 20,000 acres. The park is covered in extensive groves of moso bamboo, Masson pine, chestnut trees, and tea bushes, painting the hillsides and valleys in vibrant green. A 4-kilometer-long mountain trail runs through the park, lined with towering bamboo and trees and a forest floor carpeted in pine needles. Along the path, flowers such as azaleas and white roses add splashes of color. Passing through Xiameilin at an elevation of 210 meters, you’ll reach the park’s highest peak—Liumudian, which stands at 348 meters above sea level—and are greeted with an expansive view. Climb to the watchtower, and you’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic scene: the Hengshan Reservoir in Yixing and the shimmering waters and rolling hills of Tianmu Lake, as if painted on a canvas. Nearby, the ruins of Qianhua Temple, originally built during the Shunzhi era of the Qing Dynasty, still stand with remnants of its walls, while the magnolia and osmanthus trees within continue to thrive.
