Located in the northern suburbs of Feicui City in Wuzhishan, adjacent to Atuo Ridge and just 1,000 meters from the city center, it lies at the 200-kilometer mark on the Haiyu Middle Line. The park's boundaries are as follows: to the east up to the 913.0 contour line of Tongjia Triangle Ridge, to the west up to the 557.0 summit, to the south up to the 719.5 summit of Triangle Ridge, and to the north up to the 538 contour line of Hengtou Mountain. It covers an area of 8,066.7 hectares, with 7,866.7 hectares of natural forest. On the southern side, there are two undulating mountain ranges stretching from north to south: the left range extends approximately 3,000 meters from the main ridge to Ali Mountain Resort, while the right range stretches about 4,000 meters from the main ridge to the Tourist Villa. The width between the two ranges varies from roughly 700 to 1,000 meters. Viewed from the peak of the main ridge facing south, the overall shape of the Atuo Ridge mountain range resembles the English letter “U,” with valley depths of around 200 meters. The entire mountainous area is covered by forests spanning approximately 160,000 mu. The park features a beautiful landscape where water and mountains complement each other. It boasts pristine forests, planted woods, streams, springs, rolling mountain ranges, as well as attractive natural sights such as Taiping Waterfall and Qingchun Ridge Waterfall.
Atuo Ridge Forest Park is home to a vast expanse of tropical natural and planted forests, characterized by being evergreen, multi-layered, mixed, and of varying ages. The main types include tropical rainforests, tropical monsoon forests, and evergreen broadleaf forests, making its forest resources extremely rich. The forest coverage rate is around 90%. Over 1,600 species of wild plants have been identified, across 400 families, including more than 700 species from 60 families of trees and shrubs. Among these, there are over 100 species of terrestrial medicinal plants, 56 species of commercial timber, and 56 species of fiber plants, as well as various flowers and landscaping tree species. Wildlife resources are also abundant, with over 30 species of mammals across 3 orders, 120 species of birds across 30 families in 7 orders, and 40 species of amphibians and reptiles across 3 orders. Rare animals under national protection include six species such as the Lady Amherst’s pheasant, Hainan partridge, Komodo dragon, and python. In addition, there are 16 species under national second-class protection, such as the pangolin, and 12 species protected at the provincial level.
Additionally, Atuo Ridge Forest Park is situated in the heart of the Wuzhishan region and enjoys a tropical monsoon rainforest climate, characterized by warm winters and cool summers. Summers are mild and rainy, while autumns are cool and moist, offering spring-like weather all year round—earning it the reputation of a “natural air conditioner.” Although Atuo Ridge may not be as towering, majestic, or world-renowned as Huangshan, Mount Emei, or Mount Tai, the experience it offers is unique: a vast and open horizon that broadens the mind; rolling mountain ranges stretching endlessly like a sea; a panoramic view of the lush green city; drifting clouds and waves of mist; spectacular scenery and breathtaking beauty... It is truly a place of exceptional charm and is highly suitable for developing tourism activities such as hiking, mountain viewing, and scenic driving routes. Driving along the mountain switchbacks into the forested area allows visitors to admire a variety of rare trees while enjoying the chirping of birds and rustling of leaves—an experience full of charm.
