Introduction to the Scenic Area:
Bashan Grand Canyon is located on the northeastern edge of the Sichuan Basin, at the southern foot of the Daba Mountains. It is a comprehensive national geopark that features typical and unique nappe-fold tectonic landforms, classic geological profiles, distinctive karst landforms, and deep canyons as its guiding landscapes. It organically blends ecological and cultural attractions, combining both aesthetic and scientific value.
China’s typical V-shaped grand canyon, known as a “natural museum of folds,” is famed for its steep peaks, beautiful waters, serene valleys, mysterious caves, and numerous shoals. Here, you can also listen to folk songs and ballads represented by the Bashan “back-carried load” tunes, experience Tujia ethnic customs with strict and elaborate rules governing weddings, funerals, birthdays, business celebrations, and festivals, and take part in the thrilling yet safe “First Rafting Trip of Eastern Sichuan.” The area offers idyllic scenery where forests hide springs, springs conceal caves, caves frame views, and views inspire poetry.
Colorful Holiday Rafting. Inside the canyon, the Qianhe River flows swiftly with crystal-clear water, under blue skies and amid green lands, with a pleasant climate. The riverbanks are scattered with rocks, and summer rains increase the water volume, making it the best time for adventure rafting and vacationing — attracting large numbers of tourists every year. While enjoying the thrilling journey, you’ll also be surrounded by stunning riverside scenery. Moreover, you can experience the life of the Tujia people along the riverbanks, taste Tujia-style dishes, enjoy the exciting rafting in the Hundred-Mile Gorge, join lively bonfire parties, and fully embrace the wonderful moments Bashan Grand Canyon has to offer.
Tired of the concrete jungles of the city, the endless social formalities, and the noise of performances amid colorful surroundings? Why not pack a bag, bring a bottle of water, leave your worries behind, and trek through this hundred-mile-long canyon.
