  Guanzhouba Site

The Guanzhouba Site is situated on the first-level terrace on the eastern bank of the Langhe River, approximately 700 meters southeast of Siping Village, Chengguan Town, Langao County. It dates back to the Warring States, Qin, and Han periods. The terrain here is relatively flat, and the site is irregularly shaped, covering an area of about 30,000 square meters. The cultural layer is buried deep and not prominently exposed. From the soil terraces at the edge of the site, the cultural layer accumulation can be seen at a depth of about 1 meter from the surface, with a thickness of around 0.4 meters. It contains a significant amount of charcoal fragments, fired earth blocks, sand-tempered pottery shards, and chipped stone tools. In the rammed-earth walls of villagers’ houses within the site area, there are sand-tempered red pottery shards, sand-tempered brown-black pottery shards, and red-fired earth. On the surface in the central and southeastern parts of the site, a large number of Han Dynasty bricks can be seen, including socketed bricks and fan-shaped coiled-top bricks, with rope patterns on the main surfaces and floral and diamond geometric patterns on the sides. Scattered across the site are numerous rope-patterned tile fragments, including plank tiles and tubular tiles. The site has been slightly damaged in some areas due to villagers digging earth for house construction in earlier years, but most of it remains well-preserved.
