Mount Xizhong

      Mount Xizhong

Also known as Qianshan Head or Qingshan Head, it is located northwest of Xiazhuang Village in Taozhuang Town, with an elevation of 233.5 meters. With a long history and many historic sites, its peaks stretch eastward for hundreds of li, hence the name “Qianshan Head,” and it has long been known as the “Mountain of Immortals.” To the southwest of the mountain lies the site of the ancient Xiyi settlement, while on Xiuqiu Mountain to the west of the mountain are the tomb of Xizhong and, beside it, the tomb of Ran Qiu. Deep within Mount Xigong lies the site where Xizhong invented the chariot. In later times, to commemorate this great inventor, the Cheshifu Temple was built at the site where the chariot was created, and its ruins still remain. On the plains of villages such as Xicun, Houwan, Qianwan, and Hebeizhuang, south of the former site of Xiyi, there are ash layers, ash pits, signs of fire use, and scattered pottery shards, stone axes, and striking tools. This area has been designated by the municipal government as a Dawenkou Culture site. Major attractions include the Tomb of Xizhong, the Xigong Temple, the Tomb of Ran Qiu, and the Temple of Fan Li.
