East Lake Star Island

Introduction The East Lake tourist area features beautiful scenery, surrounded by mountains. It is located in the upper reaches of the Nalong River in the southeastern part of Yangjiang City, about 30 kilometers from downtown Yangjiang. The East Lake area spans 21 square kilometers, including 9 square kilometers of water surface and a water volume of 120 million cubic meters. The lake is clear and pristine, with lush green mountains. There are 108 small islands in the lake, planted with mangoes, lychees, longans, slash pines, and peach blossoms. The lake is home to fish such as grass carp, yellow croaker, mandarin fish, and the rare Chinese giant salamander. On land, you can find over twenty species of animals including cormorants, egrets, wild geese, pheasants, eagles, swans, wild boars, badgers, otters, and pangolins. Nearly a thousand species of rare plants also grow here. East Lake also has an ancient camphor tree king over 5,000 years old, which was unearthed from the Nalong River. It weighs 58 tons, has a diameter of 4.3 meters, and is 26 meters long.
