The Snowy Mountains are located in the southeastern part of New South Wales, forming part of the Great Dividing Range and are also the highest mountain range in Australia. Mount Kosciuszko, located in these mountains, stands at an elevation of 2,228 meters, making it the highest peak in Australia. Major rivers originating from the Snowy Mountains include the Murray River, Murrumbidgee River, and Snowy River.

Stretching 96 kilometers from the western side of Melbourne, Australia, southward to the border of Victoria, the Snowy Mountains are majestic and spectacular. In summer, the mountains are covered with lush trees and fragrant wildflowers, while small animals can be seen moving about. This makes it the best time for hiking. From July to October each year, the Snowy Mountains are blanketed in snow, making it the prime season for skiing, where you can challenge the slopes and seek thrills. The area hosts Australia’s largest ski resort, equipped with comprehensive skiing facilities. Even beginners need not worry, as there are dedicated ski schools offering lessons. The Snowy Mountains feature Australia’s highest ski slopes, perfect for thrill-seekers to show off their skills.

At the summit of the Snowy Mountains, you can also find a rare biosphere reserve, home to 20 plant species found nowhere else in the world. No matter the season, the Snowy Mountains offer endless opportunities for outdoor adventure.
