The area is abundant in plum trees, interplanted with pears, oranges, cherries, and more, resulting in flowers blooming and fruits ripening all year round. Among them, plum trees dominate. With over 50 years of cultivation history and covering more than 10,000 acres, the plum blossoms bloom layer by layer every March. From afar, they look like pristine snow; up close, they resemble frost-kissed blossoms—capturing the essence of “half-mountain plum blossoms, a mountain of snow.” In early July, the plums ripen. The main variety, the Wai Zui plum (Crooked-Mouth Plum), is as big as a baby’s fist, with a uniquely tilted top resembling a longevity peach. It has thin skin, easy-to-separate pits, and is crisp, sweet, and juicy. It is a famous fruit product in Chongqing and has been certified as a National Geographical Indication Product. Due to the delicious and abundant Wai Zui plums from the Yinhé region, Yubei District has been honored as the “Home of Plums in China.”
Major viewing areas include: Shuishi Dam Plum Garden, Maolingpo Plum Garden, Huoshaopo Plum Garden, and Tongxin Cypress. The scenic area offers well-developed supporting facilities, including flower-viewing paths, sightseeing pavilions, specialty farm stays, and teahouses. Flower-watching festivals and fruit-picking festivals are held periodically according to the blooming and ripening seasons of different fruits.
