Taibai Cave is located in Chazhen, about 38 kilometers east of the county town. Starting from the 130-kilometer mark on the Hanbai Highway, cross a double-curved arch bridge (Taibai Bridge) that spans over a canyon, then walk along a mountain path along the cliffs for about a hundred meters. There, you’ll see grotesque rocks, as if carved by supernatural forces. Below your feet lies a deep valley with murmuring streams, giving visitors a sense of mystery, vastness, and wonder. As the path winds around, three natural caves suddenly emerge before the cliffs. The left cave is over a zhang (approximately 3.3 meters) wide and can be climbed into, where stalactites and uniquely shaped stones abound. Water droplets glisten like pearls and jade. At the cave’s entrance stands a stalactite the size of two people embracing, carved with the image of the deity Taibai. The floor inside is smooth and clean. Parallel to the left cave is the right cave, which is even more spacious and connects to the middle cave. A wooden ladder allows visitors to climb up. At the bottom of the cave lies a deep pool with crystal-clear water, known as the “Taibai Sacred Water Cave.” Outside the cave, on a wide-open ground, stand 14 ancient nanmu trees, each several people could hug, towering over ten zhang high (around 33 meters), with lush foliage that has thrived for millennia—a rare treasure in the world. The karst cave, deep pool, and ancient trees form a rarely seen “Mysterious Realm of Taibai.”
Nowadays, Taibai Cave and Qixing Lake form a tourist route. After paying homage to the Taibai Star God at Taibai Cave, visitors can take a special vehicle down the mountain to Qixing Lake to enjoy the scenery.
