Diaoyutai State Guesthouse is an ancient imperial garden and a complex of modern state guesthouse buildings located on the east side of Yuyuantan in Haidian District, Beijing, China. A platform was built here during the Jin Dynasty, which has a history of over 800 years. By the Qing Dynasty, Emperor Qianlong (reigned 1736–1795) ordered the dredging of Yuyuantan and the construction of an imperial palace here, turning the area into a royal garden. The modern state guesthouse campus was expanded and built by the government of the People's Republic of China between 1958 and 1959 on the basis of the ancient Diaoyutai scenic area, serving as a place for accommodating visiting state guests, as well as hosting meetings and conferences. The Beijing Diaoyutai State Guesthouse is an important venue for China’s national leaders to conduct diplomatic activities, and also serves as a super five-star hotel for receiving heads of state and distinguished guests from various countries. Since its establishment in 1959, it has hosted nearly 1,000 presidents, kings, and prime ministers from around the world, making it a place of global attention among people and media worldwide.

Diaoyutai State Guesthouse is located southwest of the intersection of Fucheng Road and Sanlihe Road, to the east of Yuyuantan and outside Fuchengmen in western Beijing. The guesthouse campus stretches approximately 1 kilometer from north to south and about 0.5 kilometers from east to west, covering a total area of 420,000 square meters, with a total floor space of 165,000 square meters and a lake area of 50,000 square meters. Landmarks near Diaoyutai State Guesthouse include the Naval General Hospital, the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, the China Central Television Tower, China Central Television, China Millennium Monument, the State Taxation Administration, the Ministry of Railways, the Military Museum of the Chinese People's Revolution, the National Bureau of Statistics, and the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council.
