The China Chemical Industry Museum was funded by China National Chemical Corporation and partially supported by the Beijing Municipal Government. It is an industry-specific museum that showcases the development and significant achievements of China’s chemical industry, celebrates the outstanding contributions made by scientists and entrepreneurs to the field, illustrates a bright vision of how the chemical industry supports human life, fulfills the long-held dream of the Chinese chemical community to have a dedicated museum, and serves as a popular science education base on chemical knowledge for youth.

The museum is located on the third floor of the China Chemical Corporation Building, covering an exhibition area of 2,540 square meters. It mainly consists of eight exhibition halls: the Introductory Hall, Ancient Chemical Industry Hall, Modern Chemical Industry Hall, Contemporary Chemical Industry Hall, China National Chemical Corporation Hall, Vision for Future Chemical Industry Hall, and Chemistry and People’s Livelihoods Hall. In addition to a wealth of textual displays, photos, charts, and models, the halls also house over 360 pieces of chemical artifacts from ancient to modern times. Selected posthumous publications and books from Hou Debang, a renowned Chinese chemical engineer and former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Chemical Industry, are also on display.

In addition to traditional exhibition methods such as panels and models, the museum employs modern presentation techniques including touch screens, videos, multimedia interactions, and holographic imaging. It combines sound, light, and electricity to create an engaging experience that is informative, aesthetically pleasing, and entertaining, offering visitors both enjoyment and enlightenment.

During its establishment, the museum received strong support from former leaders and experts of the Ministry of Chemical Industry. However, given the long history and vast body of historical materials in China’s chemical industry, the museum is still in its initial stage and naturally has some shortcomings. We warmly welcome feedback from all visitors, especially experts in the field. With the care of enthusiastic audiences, this young museum will continue to grow and thrive, blossoming with the most beautiful flowers and bearing abundant fruits.
