Dongze Lake

The dragon is a symbol of China, and the Chinese people are descendants of the dragon. The homeland of the dragon is Dongze Lake, located next to Dongguanzhuang Village in Dongzhen, Wenxi County. The Zuo Zhuan, in the 29th year of Duke Zhao’s reign, records this as the place where Dongfu tamed dragons. Today, visitors can find the ruins of the Temple of Dongfu, the former site of the Immortal Crossing Bridge, the Twin Lotus Stone Stele, and legends about the Lotus Fairy. It is a historical and cultural scenic area themed around dragon culture, along with an ecological lotus landscape. Dongze Lake enjoys excellent transportation and communication links. It is adjacent to the Dayun Expressway, secondary and tertiary highways, the Wenjiang Secondary Highway, and the Nan Tongpu Railway, making it highly accessible for tourists from all regions. Especially notable is the area’s abundant lotus root production. During summer and autumn, over 80% of the white-sand flats are covered by lotuses, with rows of willows lining both shores and fragrant lotus blossoms stretching across ten miles of calm lake. The homeland of the dragon blends seamlessly with the scent of lotus pods and blossoms. In winter, the lotus roots from Dongze Lake are as white as jade, porous yet fine-textured, crisp, tender, sweet, and rich in nutrients—excellent both for eating and for nourishment. Currently, the processed green food product “Crispy Lotus,” made from these roots, is a bestseller in Shanxi, Shaanxi, Henan, and other provinces. Dongze Lake is becoming a special economic tourism zone within the context of economic restructuring.
