The Junwang Mansion consists of a front courtyard and a rear courtyard, covering a total area of 2,105.79 square meters with a total construction area of 1,040.44 square meters. An earthen city wall was built around the mansion compound, standing over ten feet high and five feet wide (constructed between 1928 and 1930), enclosing a total area of over 15,000 square meters. The front courtyard was built in 1931, covering an area of 939.52 square meters with a construction area of 465.78 square meters, and included 13 living quarters. Opposite the entrance of the front courtyard stood a memorial archway, with couplets inscribed on both sides: the left read “The foremost of the league, inheriting blessings and prosperity; the banner’s noblest, with a hereditary princely foundation,” and the right, “A screen for the Tan Manor, blessed by the Star of Happiness, governing the whole banner with benevolent rule.” Unfortunately, this was destroyed during the Cultural Revolution. The rear courtyard was built in 1936, comprising 16 living quarters, covering an area of 1,166.27 square meters with a construction area of 574.66 square meters. The front and rear courtyards of the mansion were connected by a blue brick wall over two yards high (equipped with crenellations for defense), forming a unified complex.
