Chenjiazhuang Village is located more than 20 kilometers west of Wenxi County and is the hometown of Cui Ducen, one of the "Three Loyalists of Southern Shanxi." During the democratic revolution period, Cui Ducen spread new ideas and cultures, exerting considerable influence across Hedong.

From July 1943 to January 1948, various party, government, and military organs were stationed here, including the Third District Committee and District Government of the Jiluo Anti-Japanese Democratic Base, the Jiluo County Committee and County Government of the Communist Party of China, and the Taiyue Third District Committee, Third Administrative Office, and Headquarters of the Third Military Subdistrict. A large number of leading party, government, and military officials such as Jia Kangjie, Chai Zemin, Jin Changgeng, and Wang Yong once lived and carried out resistance activities here. To this day, the village still preserves 32 revolutionary heritage sites. After the liberation of Yuncheng in 1947, these offices gradually relocated to Yuncheng, and Chenjiazhuang successfully fulfilled its glorious mission.

  Background Information

In July 1945, the Taiyue Fifth District Committee moved from Qifeng Village in the Zhongtiao Mountains to Chenjiazhuang Village. In December 1945, following the spirit of the meeting of the Jin-Ji-Lu-Yu Central Bureau, the Taiyue District Party Committee adjusted the administrative divisions of Taiyue, renaming the Taiyue Fifth District Committee as the Taiyue Third District Committee. Its working bodies included the Organization Department, Propaganda Department, and Urban Work Department. In July 1947, the Social Affairs Department and Mass Work Department were also established, with Chai Zemin serving as the District Party Secretary. The Taiyue Third District Committee governed 14 county-level party committees—namely, those of Anyi, Xie County, Linjin, Yishi, Wanquan, Ronghe, Jihexian, Jiangnan, Wenxi, Xia County, Pinglu, Ruicheng, Yongle, and Yongyu—as well as the Yuncheng City Party Committee. The district committee office was relatively stably based in Chenjiazhuang until it withdrew in the spring of 1948. During this time, the Taiyue Third District Committee led the military and civilians in supporting troop operations, developing agricultural production, carrying out land reform, punishing traitors, settling accounts, reducing rents and interest rates, rectifying party organizations at all levels, and recruiting new party members. These efforts led to the early liberation of Hedong, making it a reliable rear base for supporting the liberation of southwestern and northwestern China, and contributing significantly to the victory of the Liberation War.

Chai Zemin (1916~2010) Chai Zemin (1916–2010) was born on November 13, 1916, in Dongshe Village, within Wenxi County. He joined the Communist Party of China in 1933. Starting in 1937, he served successively as the Organization Minister of the Wenxi County Committee, the Organization Minister of the Pinglu County Committee, and the Secretary of the Xia County Central County Committee. In May 1942, he became the Secretary of the Tiaoxi District Committee. At the end of 1942, the Tiaoxi District Committee formed the Zhongtiaoshan Anti-Japanese Allied Forces, with Chai Zemin serving as commander. In 1943, he was appointed Secretary of the Taiyue Fifth District Committee and Political Commissar of the Fifth Subdistrict. In 1945, he became Secretary of the Taiyue Third District Committee and Political Commissar of the Third Subdistrict.
