Lianxing Mining Farm

The Lianxing Mining Farm Group Modern Ecological Agriculture Demonstration Park is an important part of the Longquan Mining Farm, situated in the area around Jiuyan Village, Longquan Town. It lies to the south of the An-Wang Highway, borders Nan Zhangwu Village to the north, adjoins Zhangwu Reservoir and neighbors Xifangshan Village to the west, and extends to the planned Jiuyan New Village to the east, covering an area of over 5,000 acres.

Lianxing Mining Farm integrates walnut production, free-range chicken farming, catering and accommodation, leisure tourism, and team-building training. Following the “joint venture, cooperation, training” philosophy of the mining farm, it adopts a demonstration-driven model focused on three key functions: income generation, security, and public benefit. Centered around the "fruit-grass-poultry" industry theme, it drives local agricultural structural adjustment and improves the local ecological environment.

The Longquan Mining Farm has made breakthrough progress in eco-tourism and leisure agriculture driven by the "fruit-grass-poultry" demonstration park. Over 50,000 fruit trees including thin-shelled walnuts, golden persimmons, and crabapple have been planted, 1,500 acres of purple alfalfa sown, and 100,000 free-range chickens raised. Two chick-rearing farms, one feed processing workshop, and 14 free-range chicken houses have been built. A catering and office area, parking lot, and high-altitude rock-climbing facilities for the team-building training base have also been installed.

The planned dining area of the farm features green, pollution-free food such as free-range chicken, wild vegetables, and self-grown specialty vegetables. It covers a planned area of 20 acres with a construction area of about 3,000 square meters. To the west of the dining area is the new and specialty fruit and vegetable picking zone, spanning over 50 acres. It includes more than 50 vegetable greenhouses using soilless cultivation techniques to grow premium vegetable varieties such as cherry tomatoes, golden zucchini, and colorful peppers, as well as fruit trees such as persimmons, cherries, and strawberries. This forms the mining farm’s unique fruit and vegetable picking garden.

Looking to the northeast of the farm, you’ll find the largest area — the large-field three-dimensional farming zone (free-range zone) — which is also the core section of our mining farm, covering over 4,500 acres. The farm takes advantage of the undulating terrain, intercropping purple alfalfa, using the pasture to raise poultry freely, and planting 247,500 paper-shell walnuts. These walnuts have shells as thin as paper, thin skins with thick meat, very easy kernel extraction, light-colored kernels, and excellent taste. When holding two walnuts in your hand and squeezing lightly, their shells will crack — hence the name “paper-shell walnuts.” These walnuts have a kernel yield of over 65%, and the oil content of the kernels reaches 50%. Not only do they offer exceptional quality, but they also bear fruit 68 days earlier than ordinary walnuts. This variety is highly productive and of superior quality, but it requires strict water and fertilizer management; improper care can lead to premature aging. The yield can reach 400–600 pounds per acre. Walnuts are delicious and nutritious, suitable for eating raw or roasted, and can also be pressed for oil or used in various pastries and candies — a truly rare, nutrient-rich dried fruit.

To the west of the free-range zone is the chick-rearing area, covering over 30 acres with 15 chicken houses built. It raises 100,000 chicks annually, mainly free-range chickens. A batched cage-raising model is adopted to lay the foundation for free-range farming in the large field.

On weekends, when convenient, you can bring your family here to enjoy the green free-range chicken, take home some of the delicious dried and fresh fruits, and take with you the charm of the farm.
