Jingfu Academy

　　commonly referred to as the “New Jingfu Academy.”

　　The new site of the academy overlooked the Dalong Mountain on the outskirts of the city and was situated near Ling Lake—one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Anqing. To the north of the academy lay an earthen mound about ten feet high, stretching from west to east and shaded by mixed trees; to the southwest, a clear stream

　　meandered halfway around the campus, flanked by weeping willows and flowing gently. The scenery was picturesque and far removed from the noise of the city’s opium dens, taverns, merchants, and bustling carts and horses—making it truly an ideal place for study and learning.
