Gaozhai Village in Xiapu Town is built on the mountainside at an altitude of 400 to 600 meters. The villagers have built rows of modern-style houses, adapting to the undulating terrain. Nestled among the lush green sea of pomelos, these homes stand out strikingly, resembling Tibet’s Potala Palace from afar. Especially at night, the winding string of lights on the village slopes looks like a soaring dragon. With pavilions and towers lit up brilliantly and morning mist drifting softly, it feels like living in a fairyland. In early spring, the trees burst into bloom with pale yellow pomelo flowers, their fragrance wafting gently on the breeze, refreshing the soul.
After the Mid-Autumn Festival, the rolling hills are covered with golden Xi Xi honey pomelos, gleaming brightly under the sun like dazzling gems scattered across the land. After heavy rain, standing at Gaozhai Village’s viewing platform, you can often see a rainbow bridge arching over the sea of pomelos — a breathtaking sight. It’s peak harvest season for the pomelos, and visitors can stroll through the orchards, soaking in the joy of the bounty.
