Linzhou Martyrs' Cemetery
     The Linzhou City Martyrs' Cemetery was built starting in March 1976 and completed in August 1978. It covers a total area of 20,000 square meters, and its main structures include the Martyrs' Monument, the Martyrs' Memorial Hall, the Memorial Hall of Martyr Sun Zhanyuan, the Memorial Hall of Martyr Li Zhenlin, the Martyrs' Chapel, the Martyrs' Columbarium, and the Martyrs' Memorial Pavilion. The cemetery is the resting place of 3,966 martyrs (the second highest number in the province). Among them, Martyr Sun Zhanyuan was posthumously honored as an “Outstanding Meritorious Hero” and “First-Class Hero,” and was awarded the title of “Hero of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea” by the Korean government, along with the Gold Star Medal and the First-Class National Flag Medal. Since its establishment, the cemetery has been visited by millions of people from all walks of life for commemoration, memorial services, and paying respects.
