Outdoor theatre and music performances are held in summer, making it a renowned hub for folk culture in Amman. Phone: (06) 4721528 Introduction The small town of Salt was once the capital of Jordan during the Ottoman Turkish era, surpassing Amman in prominence at the time. Though now quiet, many well-preserved Ottoman-era buildings remain, constructed from local yellow stone that gives Salt its golden hue—contrasting with Amman’s white. As such, sunset is the most beautiful time to visit.
